Heaven and Hell Micah Sheveloff duet with Mike Munro
I always wanted to sit down and make an old fashioned singer/songwriter record.
As I think back, I remember talking to a few producers about the “new way” that recordings are made and those conversations struck a chord with me (probably an invertedĀ 7th chord, but that’s another story). I didn’t want to play to a click and e-mail tracks to a drummer three times zones away.
There is something completely magical about writing a song, working out the arrangement, and then playing your song with great musicians locked in a room. Lightning in a bottle, and I wanted that for the Exhibitionist record. For better or worse, I wanted the 10 songs to represent my voice as an artist, and to do it honestly without hiding behind the crutch of modern recording technology.
To me, that’s making music.
Exhibitionist features an amazing array of players and singers and I am immeasurably thankful to all of them.
Micah Sheveloff
